3. Loser: Otis
If we’re being kind, we could say Otis hasn’t yet found his level. As popular as he was, becoming Mr Money In The Bank was probably a mistake, and The Miz getting squashed to put the belt on Lashley was preferable to Otis getting this treatment.
Now, though, the poor guy just feels adrift. As part of Alpha Academy, he has a tag team partner in Chad Gable with whom he could do something special if let off the leash. Thus far, there’s little indication that’s ever going to happen. Even in the hinterland of WWE tag teams, Alpha Academy feel like an afterthought.
Otis will get a quick TV match from time to time or indulge in a little comedy mugging for the camera, but all this amounts to is air time to be filled. He was thrust into the MITB scene without any kind of plan, that much is clear, and now WWE have panicked and gone in the other direction, pushing an extremely talented and once hugely popular performer right to the periphery.
With all that being said, in topsy turvy WWE land he’ll probably beat Reigns for the belt at ‘Mania 38.
