5 Brother Vs Brother Wrestling Matches That Ruled (And 5 That Sucked)

1. Bret Hart Vs. Owen Hart (WrestleMania X)

The Bret versus Owen story pretty much wrote itself. The 'younger brother gets jealous of older brother's success' plot was a tried-and-tested formula. All Bret and Owen had to do was produce in the ring, something they were more than capable of doing. Their first big singles match against each other was in the opener of WrestleMania X. Bret and Owen had worked a little bit on house shows in the buildup but those matches were usually tags featuring Lex Luger, Shawn Michaels, Yokozuna and IRS, of all people. Their WrestleMania match was a huge tests. Messrs Bret and Owen passed that test with flying colours. Bret had went to Owen in the buildup and warned him against using the high-flying moves that The Rocket favourited and instead told him to focus more on being a heel and telling a story. It worked. The two had a phenomenal back-and-fourth match. The finish was also refreshing: Bret put his little brother over clean in the middle, after Owen had countered a victory roll. It was a big win for Owen but Bret did not look weak in losing. Such was the quality of the match. The two would have many great matches after 'Mania (including the aforementioned cage match) but they would never be able to equal the quality of this outing. Truly the greatest brother versus brother match of all time.
