5 Brother Vs Brother Wrestling Matches That Ruled (And 5 That Sucked)
4. Matt Hardy Vs. Jeff Hardy - Lita As Special Guest Referee (Vengeance 2001)
Like Bret versus Owen, the Hardy Boys story pretty much wrote itself. Except this time it was the bigger brother getting jealous of his younger, more popular brother. With Lita caught in the middle, it seemed like the Hardy's feud in late 2001 had a lot of potential. The first match in the proposed Matt versus Jeff series came at Vengeance 2001. Matt's girlfriend and Team Extreme member Lita would act as the guest referee. Surely Matt and Jeff would have a phenomenal match against each other and we'd see some Matt/Lita drama too, right? Well, not exactly. Matt and Jeff had a terribly disappointing match filled with mistimed spots and bad refereeing. Matt details in the Hardy's autobiography that he was as sick as a dog on the day of the show and that he really shouldn't have been wrestling at all. I bet that, after watching the match, he wishes he hadn't. The WWF cancelled the Hardy's feud and they were written out of the storylines after being destroyed by The Undertaker. They returned as a team a month later at the Royal Rumble. The Vengeance match wasn't mentioned (for good reason). The fans just didn't want to see Matt and Jeff fight.
