5 Huge Predictions For Tony Khan's Important AEW Dynamite Announcement
3. The Signing Of ‘Switchblade’ Jay White
Although the promotion and wrestler are yet to formally announce a parting of ways, 'Switchblade' Jay White appears to be on his way out of NJPW.
11 February saw him drop a 'Loser Leaves Japan' match to former Bullet Club stablemate Hikuleo. Seven days later, at Battle In The Valley, White's bout with Eddie Kingston suddenly became a 'Loser Leaves NJPW' stipulation. Jay's defeat to the AEW star meant he was not only banished from one side of the Pacific, but New Japan outright.
For now, White appears done with NJPW - and destined to sign with a major American promotion. WWE remain the favourites to land his signature. Triple H and his creative team have already drawn rough plans for 'Switchblade', whose character-heavy style would suit WWE's big, glossy Sports Entertainment environ.
But AEW cannot be ruled out as a landing spot. White has worked there before and would make a natural Revolution 2023 opponent for Adam Cole, whose comeback bout is yet to be confirmed. Beyond that, inking with Khan's company would allow 'Switchblade' to return to NJPW should the puroresu market leaders go back on those two stipulations.
