5 MMA Concepts The WWE Needs To Adopt Immediately

3. Number Of Titles

Ufc Titles This one has been bugging me for a while -- the number of titles in the WWE, the staged event, versus the number of titles you have in the UFC, the legitimate sports event. Right now, you have Daniel Bryan out there and Batista out there both fighting for the World Heavyweight Championship and they're clearly mismatched. But, this is wrestling where every dog gets to fight if they want to, and upsets occasionally happen. The fact is that the UFC, a legitimate fighting organization, has 8 titles. The current WWE has three singles titles. So, the WWE wants a new fan to believe that Chris Weidman has to train for months before his fight, then take nearly a month to recover and six months to fight for the title in December -- but John Cena fights every night without a problem, because he's tougher? Fine, but, the reason there are so many titles in the UFC is because legitimate fighting takes time to train for and heal from, and so they have something to show every other month. Especially now, with the WWE Network coming out in just three weeks, you have enough backlog of product to slow down the title exchanges on the main programming. Also, bringing back the Light Heavyweight or Cruiserweight championships means more room to give honors to the guys who deserve it. Hell, bring back the Television Title, and have that the one that's hot-shot traded on Television and Pay Per View, and bring back more prestige to the main titles, and give the young bucks something to fight for. Originally, I'd proposed this entry to be about matches with time limits, but without an official judging body for the WWE, it didn't make sense. Though having title matches lasting longer is always a good thing, I still miss the days of a 40 minute broadway ending to a match.
