5 Most Insane Things Happening In Wrestling Right Now (June 29)

In what is ostensibly a bit of fun - but where’s the fun in that? - WWE.com recently released a photo gallery in which certain Superstars “Photobomb” the other. This, if nothing else, proves once more how far behind the times this company is. Photobombing was a thing in 2009, so, naturally, WWE gets in on the fun a full nine years later.

In the gallery itself, there is much curious amusement to be found.

Candice Michelle Photobombs Jeff Hardy because either A) some dot com staffer fancies her or B) Vince thinks it is one of those Australian girls. Undertaker shoots JBL a stern look, as if to say "You're not the real judge of Wrestler's Court. I get to make Melina burst into tears, and don't you forget it." In a moment of actual hilarity, Zelina Vega wears an expression of borderline disgust when "stood" next to TM61's Shane Thorne, as if to say "Who the f*ck is this guy? Don't stick me with him. Where's Andrade?"

What isn't amusing is the idea that WWE deems this fresh, current content. In the same year of 2009, Big Match John was nearing his searingly counterproductive peak as SuperCena, bombing the career prospects of The Miz in a match in which you couldn't see the middle act - because Cena basically decided to f*ck off telegraphing his comeback because it was absolutely no sweat.

Given that Brock Lesnar occupies a similar role in 2018, we might see much-needed change in the Universal Championship picture in 2027.
