5 Positives & Negatives Heading Into WWE Hell In A Cell 2016
2. Positive - Sheamus & Cesaro
Another undercard storyline that received a fair amount of attention on the road to Hell in a Cell was the Raw Tag Team Championship bout that will see the New Day defend against the typical odd-couple of Sheamus and Cesaro.
Now, the general trajectory of this angle has been somewhat predictable, largely because we’ve seen the “unusual bedfellows” shtick plenty of times before. However, I think this particular rendition of the story is deserving of props because even though we knew what was coming (two foes that come together and after weeks of disagreement, somehow blossom into a formidable tag team), its execution has been pretty close to perfect.
Sheamus and Cesaro’s determination to one-up each other is what’s slowly but surely seen them develop into a force to be reckoned with. So much so that on Raw this past week, their non-title win over the New Day was met with firm approval by the Minneapolis crowd – something that becomes all the more noteworthy when you consider that it was Sheamus who scored the decisive pinfall.
We may have seen the general gist of this story before, but the way in which its been executed here has piqued the fans interested heading into Hell in a Cell, and that can only be a good thing.
