Of course, Ibushi hasn’t been the only Japanese star that we’ve seen used sparsely in recent weeks. Asuka has also been rather conspicuous in her absence, and what makes this case all the more notable is that she’s actually contracted to NXT on a full-time basis.

Not only that, but she just so happens to be the brand’s Women’s Champion as well.

Since winning that belt back at TakeOver: Brooklyn II in August, Asuka’s competed in just two televised matches that lasted a cumulative total of less than three minutes. It seems she’s been busy on the live event scene, but that’s not much good to the majority of fans who have to make do with tuning into televised shows.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m still amped for her match at TakeOver this weekend. But even so, it would have been nice to have seen her around a little more often, even if it was just to destroy a host of jobbers on her march towards her title defence this Saturday in Toronto.
