5 Previous WWE Buried Alive Matches - Ranked Worst To Best
3. The Undertaker & Big Show Vs. The Rock & Mankind - Smackdown (Sept. 9/1999)
This is the Buried Alive match that fans really don't know as much about because it's the only that didn't take place on a PPV. When Smackdown debuted in August 1999, they had to have a lot of huge matches in order to get people used to watching the show every week. The Rock and Mankind, known as the Rock N Sock Collection, were the tag team champions. Obviously they were the babyface team. Undertaker was a heel teaming up with Big Show at this point in his career. Needless to say, there was a lot of star power in this match. It was a match that was booked like tornado rules tag match, so they brawled all around the arena. There were some memorable spots in the match like when Big Show threw Mankind off the stage and he bounced into the grave. Mankind came back with Mr. Socko because that's the best way to fight your way out of a grave! Like most Buried Alive matches, there was interference in this one too. Rock was brawling backstage with Undertaker, so Triple H attacked Rock from behind. Kane went after Hunter and then Chyna hit Kane. After Mankind was put into the grave, Triple H showed up and nailed Big Show with a sledgehammer to the back of the head. He did that because he wanted to bury Mankind for himself. Rock ended up brawling with Undertaker backstage again. Triple H dumped the dirt on Mankind so Undertaker and Big Show became the new tag team champions even though they weren't a part of the actual finish. The match was entertaining because there was a lot of star power involved, but it was also overbooked a lot too. Once match was over, Steve Austin showed up to brawl with Triple H and further their storyline. The action was intense, but it was also very confusing to try to make sense of it all.
