The Undertaker: 5 Reasons We Should Have Seen The End Of The Streak Coming
4. The Death Of Paul Bearer
Paul Bearer was manager and friend to The Undertaker since 1991, and was a crucial part of his whole mystique. His death in March last year was a sad day for wrestling, and has had a profound effect on both 'Taker and Kane. WWE would later incorporate Paul's real life death into the storyline for CM Punk's match against the Undertaker, a divisive move which caused some fans to complain to the company about their poor taste. It's possible that 'Taker just hasn't got the heart to compete anymore after such a personal loss. When he resurfaced this year, it was noted that his wrestling attire featured a tombstone design which read "RIP P.B." as tribute to his departed friend. Paul was inducted into the Hall Of Fame as part of this year's class, so it may well be that 'Taker wanted to compete one final time to honour his friend before stepping down.
Stephen Maher has been a rock star, a bouncer, a banker and a busker on various streets in various countries. He's hung out with Robert Plant, he was at Nelson Mandela's birthday and he's swapped stories with prostitutes and crack addicts. He once performed at a Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras by accident. These days, he passes the time by writing about music, wrestling, games and other forms of nerdery. And he rarely drinks the blood of the innocent.
