5 Reasons AEW Should Sign Cesaro AEW (& 5 Reasons They Shouldn’t)
6. Reason he shouldn’t: Cesaro might be better off in NJPW(or elsewhere)
AEW might seem like the obvious choice for Cesaro but it isn’t the only option. NJPW seems like it might be a perfect fit. Japan must surely soon be moving away from clap crowds and you imagine the arrival of the “Swiss Superman” would get a deservedly massive pop from crowds once they’re allowed to make noise again.
Despite a notable decline in recent years, NJPW remains a coveted destination for many wrestlers. Plus the likes of Okada, Tanahashi, Osprey, Ibushi and more on the books NJPW is home to just as many potential dream matches.
Also, not having recently signed CM Punk, Bryan Danielson, Adam Cole and more, NJPW offers a clearer route to the top of the card for an incoming star. Technically, Cesaro could still be allowed to go on an acclaimed G1 run or even hold the NJPW US Title while working for Tony Khan. But when it comes to starring roles you have to think Gedo is going to favour the guys signed full time with his promotion.
Even beyond NJPW, there’s AAA or even the bigger indie promotions. Cesaro could pretty much walk into MLW or GCW as an instant top guy and still get to work some top talent as well.
