5 Reasons Brock Lesnar Should Stay In WWE (And 5 Reasons Why He Will Leave)
3. WWE Can't Afford Him Right Now
There was an interesting news item during the Jim Ross Report podcast with former WCW announcer Mark Madden on as his guest. Madden shared some information about how Lesnar was willing to work more matches for WWE if they were willing to pay him at the rate that he was getting paid at for the last three years. WWE chose not to do that either because it was too expensive or they simply felt like it would be overusing him. Lesnar could be frustrated by that or maybe he doesn't care at all. We really don't know. All we know is that he was willing to have more matches, they were against that for whatever reason and now he's in a spot where he's going to be a very valuable free agent for somebody out there. The business of WWE has been a very interesting story for the last year. When they launched WWE Network the operating costs were so high that it turned into a big money loser for them. They ended up firing a lot of office staff as well as wrestlers. Budget cuts have been evident on broadcasts because most of the sets for television look boring. At Sunday's Royal Rumble the set looked the same as the one they use for Raw. It was sad to see that. From Lesnar's perspective, WWE could just be something in his rear-view mirror because he's not going to want to take a discount when he knows there are other interested parties out there. There have been rumors that the MMA promotion Bellator might have an interest in Lesnar, but we're guessing that UFC is where he would go if he wants more MMA. That's where he was before and that's the company that can pay him the most.
