3. Won’t - Peaked Too Soon?
It has been a good couple of days for the American Nightmare. Big WrestleMania entrance - check. A creditable win in a great match - check. A showpiece promo on Raw - check. Not a bad way to re-debut in the world’s biggest wrestling company.
There’s always a slight fear (especially with WWE) that the peak has come too soon, though. We’ve seen this recently with the likes of Ronda Rousey - great Rumble comeback, not much to speak of subsequently - and Big E’s world title win.
WWE can pop a rating, they can create a big moment with the world watching, but can they prepare for the future? Do they have a plan going forward for the next weeks and months of Cody’s WWE career? It’s easy to imagine they don’t.
The fear is that Cody will quickly feel like just another face on the roster. Of course, the same was said about CM Punk and he’s defied those odds - but for all his attributes, Cody Rhodes is no CM Punk.
