5 Reasons Jinder Mahal Must Beat Shinsuke Nakamura At WWE SummerSlam 2017

1. Jinder Needs It More

On Sunday evening, Jinder Mahal will defend the WWE Championship against Shinsuke Nakamura. The King of Strong Style will enter the match as the favourite. Nakamura has very little to prove, and very little to lose if he is unsuccessful. If Mahal defeats Nakamura, Shinsuke will return to his previous position on the card and begin the climb up once again.

The same can not be said for Jinder Mahal. The current WWE Champion still has a huge amount to prove. Without that championship title, Jinder Mahal will sink back to the purgatory of the lower card. Mahal's ceaseless feud with Randy Orton means he hasn't been able to establish himself as a main event player.

Jinder Mahal beating Shinsuke Nakamura is the best decision for all involved. Mahal can continue establishing himself as a top star, without being lumbered with a 'failed champion' tag for the rest of his career. Nakamura's slow rise will resume, allowing Swagsuke to exhibit his full range of skills.

Does it need to be a clean win? Not necessarily. The Singh Brothers will inevitably get involved, and the thought of a Shinsuke vs. The Singh Brothers handicap match is an engaging one to say the least. Mahal must walk out of SummerSlam as the WWE Champion, for the good of both men and the company they represent.
