5 Reasons Kurt Angle Could Jump To MMA (And 5 Reasons It Won't Happen)
2. MMA Is Now A True Multi-Discipline Sport
So Kurt Angle has a decorated wrestling base to build his MMA career from. That's stellar, something to build on. Of course, it's not fifteen years ago, and the days of one discipline being dominant are more or less over. Now, to be fair, wrestling is still possibly the best base to build from in MMA, but Angle will need a solid amount of work in boxing, Muay Thai, Jiu-jitsu, and the like. It's not enough for him to be a great wrestler, he needs to be a great mixed martial artist, or at least a very good one. That's the exact reason CM Punk's journey to the UFC has been taking as long as it has. Had Angle joined the sport back in the early 2000s, his wrestling background might have taken him all the way to a major title. Now? It may or may not get him through a fight.
