5 Reasons MJF Is Already Secretly A Babyface
2. Fans Want To Get Behind Him
One can spend all day tallying up traits and characteristics that define a wrestler as a babyface or a heel but ultimately, it comes down to the fans. If they love you - and are vocal enough about it - you might not want to become a babyface, but you might not have much choice.
It’s why stars like “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, The Rock or more recently The Acclaimed barely had to change their presentation when they turned from the dark side and embraced the light. They just had to lean in to letting the fans enjoy what they’d been doing all along.
Fans have been roaring their approval for Max for a while now. They cheered him over a blood soaked CM Punk, holding up his hard won belt in Chicago. Yes, some fans were angry at Punk for undermining “Hangman” Adam Page, but MJF’s own actions derailed Wardlow’s push and yet he remains beloved.
Of course he can still get boos when programmed against fan favourites like Jon Moxley, but it really is only the top guys that can hold their own against his popularity. In order to keep his heat opposite poor old Wheeler YUTA, he had to resort to knocking the beloved Tony Schiavone to the ground. They knew it ahead of time, too, which is why they put that spot in.
