5 Reasons MJF Is Already Secretly A Babyface
1. Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria
In two emotional exchanges, with CM Punk and William Regal, MJF had referred to himself as “ADD riddled,” (It’s probably worth noting your writer has ADHD, as it’s also known). ADHD often comes hand in hand with Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria.
“RSD is extreme emotional sensitivity and pain triggered by the perception that a person has been rejected or criticized by important people in their life. It may also be triggered by a sense of falling short—failing to meet…others’ expectations.”
Who does that remind you of? Whose feud with CM Punk exploded from a spurned handshake? And when that feeling of rejection is triggered and externalised:
“it looks like an impressive, instantaneous rage at the person or situation responsible for causing the pain.”
Is MJF using his real life neurodivergent traits to inform his incredibly well rounded character? His animosity towards Punk and Regal?
Of course RSD isn’t in and of itself a babyface trait. There’s no excuse for violently lashing out at people. That’s all still heel stuff. Those of us with ADHD and RSD have to try and manage our emotional responses, however overwhelming.
That said, by reaching out for CM Punk’s hand, nearly taking Wheeler YUTA’s and choosing not to attack William Regal from behind, MJF has shown time and again that he still craves respect and acceptance. If he can manage his emotions and win out over his worst instincts to earn that respect, that might be the biggest babyface move of all.
