5 Reasons Why WWE SummerSlam 2018's Main Event Will Fail

5. The Card Has More Interesting Matches Elsewhere

A quick scan of the SummerSlam card reveals three matches that are either fresher or more interesting than Roman Reigns' pursuit of Brock Lesnar. Therein lies part of the problem: the tale WWE are telling isn't particularly compelling despite the threat of Brock dismissing the importance of his job or Roman's hunt.

The Intercontinental Title situation between Dolph Ziggler and Seth Rollins will be more impressive in-ring and has at least one likeable character involved. The same can be said for AJ Styles' WWE Title defence against heel wrecking machine Samoa Joe. Just like with the IC belt, there's a popular babyface fans can get behind and a respected counterpoint.

WWE's Universal Title picture has neither of those things.

Even Ronda Rousey's surefire romp over Alexa Bliss for the Raw Women's Title has more intrigue, and that's a damning verdict considering that match is being presented as one Alexa cannot win without help. It's looking increasingly like Brock and Reigns will be in a no-win situation come bell time.
