5 Reasons WWE Should Hire CM Punk (... & 5 Reasons They Shouldn't!)
5. Shouldn't - Age Is Starting To Wear Him Down
Unfortunately, greatness doesn't last forever, and at 44 years of age (45 next month), Punk is a lot closer to the end of his career than the beginning.
Granted, on a carefully managed timetable WWE can expect to get a good few years out of the Straight Edge Superstar - Lesnar is a year older than Punk and shows no signs of slowing down, largely due to WWE's exceptional handling of his schedule (and the fact that Lesnar is a genetic phenomenon).
However, it's not just Punk's age that should make the WWE brass wary of any long-term plans involving him. Punk's time in AEW was blighted by two serious injuries - one a freak accident, the other an omen of a body in decline.
As Oscar Wilde nearly wrote, getting injured after one World title match may be regarded as misfortune - getting injured in two begins to look like carelessness.
Given Punk's injuries and age, if he does come to WWE, it's unlikely the company will be putting him in contention for the top titles anytime soon. That being said...
