5 Reasons WWE Should Hire CM Punk (... & 5 Reasons They Shouldn't!)

6. Should - He's Still Hugely Talented

CM Punk
AEW

Last year, this writer wrote an article on the best active wrestlers over 40. Punk made the list at no.10, with the proviso that he would have place much higher if the article was judging him solely on his ring work (and not his tendency to explode at every quasi-offensive slight).

Because make no mistake, between the ropes Punk lived up to his self-proclaimed billing as the "Best in the World" during his time in AEW. From his first match with Darby Allin onwards, any time Punk stepped into the ring was must-see TV for wrestling fans. No matter the opponent or the stipulation, CM Punk's all-too-brief stay in AEW produced clinic after clinic.

He's still going strong, too. His last ever match for the company fully justified its prominent role on AEW's historic Wembley PPV, and his recent matches on Collision have been genuinely fantastic. Although having said that, it's a damn shame we'll never get to see some of the seeds planted during recent bouts bloom to fruition. (Punk vs Malakai Black would have been a corker).
