Roman Reigns became the golden boy of Vince McMahon since the day John Cena started to limit his in-ring appearances. The audience never accepted him as the next face of the organization. Still, McMahon shoved him down everyone's throats. However, The Chairman of WWE could finally give up on 'The Big Dog' soon.

When Reigns finally received a positive response from the fans, he had to take a break from wrestling because of leukemia. WWE booked his character very carefully upon his return and kept him away from the championship belts. Roman did not win a single title in the company after 2018. However, Vince pushed him smartly and booked him to fight for the Universal Championship at WrestleMania 36.

Roman Reigns' last-minute decision to skip the event failed Mr. McMahon's master plan. The writers had to think of new storylines just a few days before the new season.

WWE has seemingly retaliated by not mentioning the 3-time World Heavyweight Champion on the TV and the backstage officials have even tried to erase him from the past. The company has subtly hinted that 'The Guy of WWE' might not feature in the main event scene for the next few years. As per Tom Colohue, the organization has also been prepping up for a future without him.
