3. The Symbolic Removal Of His Gloves

To someone outside of the strange bubble that is professional wresting fandom, this will seem a little ludicrous. But for those of us whose lives have been shaped by the ups, downs and symbolism of this business, such signs are often difficult to ignore.

After finally putting Shane McMahon away at WrestleMania 32, Undertaker removed his gloves and made his way back up the ramp. Again, to someone with no interest in professional wrestling all this is is evidence that this man had sweaty hands and wanted to take his gloves off. To fans of wrestling, this is a clear and unavoidable gesture.

Much the same as taking one's boots off and leaving them in the ring, this has been interpreted by many as being a sign that Undertaker has wrestled his last match. Pure speculation for sure, but a veteran such as Undertaker wouldn't be one to act in such a traditional manner without meaning behind it.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
