5 Things AEW Must Steal From WCW (And 5 It Shouldn’t!)

2. Yes: The BattleBowl Concept

Tony Khan f*cking loves him a battle royal. AEW has booked endless amounts of the things since launching in 2019, and that'll probably never change. So, why not dig into the WCW archives for something WWE won't touch and bring the old BattleBowl concept to All Elite Wrestling?

No, don't instantly dismiss it. Let's explore!

BattleBowl was messy when WCW tried it between 1991-1993. Randomised teams came together in a "Lethal Lottery" to work odd couple tag matches, then the winners advanced to a souped up battle royal (the BattleBowl) to potentially earn a crack at the World Title.

Sounds convoluted, sure, but it was easier to follow than some might think. AEW adores a battle royal and multi-man tags in general, so Khan would be able to squeeze loads from BattleBowl. Of course, he'd likely have to rename it and put a fresh spin on things, but it's achievable.

Let battle commence. "AEW: EliteBowl", or something.
