5 Things That Need To Happen At WWE Money In The Bank 2018
3. The Ronda/Nia Story Makes Sense
March 2018. Nia Jax is, in an incredibly un WWE move, presented as the sympathetic against-the-odds baby face heading into her wrestle mania title match against utter shitheel and, literal bully, Alexa Bliss.
June 2018. Nia Jax is thrown into an angle with Ronda Rousey where, of course, she is throwing around defenceless jobbers with zero regard for their safety… looking like an absolute bully. WWE everybody.
Now, if I could put my cynical hat on for a moment, oh would you look at that, I’ve always got it on, you might say that the reason this all feels so very rushed and nonsensical is because WWE got a heads up that Rhonda was going into the UFC Hall of Fame in July.
I mean, and I’ve fantasy booked this myself in my own head, there’s a really good story of Rousey slowly learning her way through WWE, becoming steadily more dominant, before finally getting her shot against Charlotte at Mania and winning her first title… or there’s having UFC forced to induct the reigning WWE Women’s Champion into their Hall of Fame…
I know exactly which of those I want them to do, and I know exactly which of those they actually will do.
But, that doesn’t mean this still can’t be salvaged. You put Rhonda on the top of the mountain this early and, honestly, where do you go with her but down.
They need to protect Nia as both a wrester and a character here, and having, say, Natalya win the briefcase early in the night, attempt to Cash-In, and Rousey beats her for it gives you some smart booking options in the aftermath. Having her just walk over the second most physically dominant woman in the division doesn’t.
