5 Things WWE Should NOT Do With New Universal Champion Braun Strowman (& 5 Things They Should)

2. SHOULD - Have Him Defend The Title In Open Challenges

It has been a long, long time since the fans saw a face Superstar defending his title like a true champion every week. John Cena created many new stars with the United States Championship Open Challenge, whereas Seth Rollins did the same job with the Intercontinental title. Even Roman Reigns issued open challenges when he held the mid-card titles.

But, since the last few months, the Creative team has completely forgotten about this idea. The WWE Universe has been complaining that the 5 hours of content that the organization produces every week on RAW and SmackDown is not worth their time. The writers need to replace the random tag team matches with some better bouts.

While there is no need to defend all the championships every week, Vince McMahon and co. can have Braun Strowman put the Universal Championship on the line every Friday and call out anyone from the locker room. This move will not only solidify Strowman's position as the top guy on the Blue brand, but it may also lead to the creation of compelling content for weekly TV.

The seasoned pros like Cesaro, Shinsuke Nakamura, Sheamus, Jeff Hardy, Dolph Ziggler, and Robert Roode have struggled to feature in the main event scene. Through these provocations, either of the above mentioned wrestlers can accept Strowman's challenge and try their luck inside the ring. The title won't change hands regularly, but this would pull the audience to their TV screens because the matches would bring back the element of unpredictability.
