5 Things You Didn't Know About CM Punk's MMA Transition

1. He Had Interest In An MMA Career Back In 2007

Punk's interest in mixed martial arts is not a recent infatuation, and make no mistake, he's going into the sport with his eyes wide open. Speaking to the Baltimore Sun back in 2007, Punk had this to say about possibly taking part in MMA;
I would love to. I live in Chicago, and I know there are a lot of fighters out here. I just recently moved back, which to me is a big accomplishment. I moved away in 2001 or 2002 for wrestling, and I€™ve come full circle and I€™ve finally made it back home. I€™m definitely going to start looking at gyms, and I€™ve found a place that I can go back and start working on my jujitsu again, because it€™s been a long time since I€™ve found a dojo that I felt comfortable enough where I can go in and work out. I€™ve got friends here that are into it, so I€™m probably just going to go check out their gyms and see what happens. I€™m not saying I€™m going to jump into it. I€™m not fighting tomorrow or anything. But it€™s definitely something that interests me. But saying that, I also hate getting punched in the nose.
Hopefully he's past the getting punched in the nose part. While he doesn't need to like it, it's going to happen.
