5 Times A Feud With Kane Was The Kiss Of Death For WWE Champions

1. Triple H

Literally being handed the title by Eric Bischoff on an episode of Raw, Triple H had an auspicious start as World Heavyweight Champion in 2002. The man's first defence came against Rob Van Dam at Unforgiven, but that was nothing compared to what WWE had up their sleeves for No Mercy in October, and the result was one of the most unsavoury feuds the company has ever presented to fans. Infamously claiming that Kane had murdered a young woman called Katie Vick, Triple H laid it on thick to his rival that he would expose him as the monster he was, and had always been. As if claiming homicide wasn't enough on a pro wrestling show, fans were then "treated" to necrophilia, as Triple H - dressed as Kane - sexually interacted with a dummy in a coffin, one he was pretending to be Katie Vick. Needless to say, this was fascinating, and not for the right reasons. Quite how this was supposed to promote a unification match between Triple H's World Heavyweight Championship and Kane's Intercontinental Title at No Mercy is anyone's guess, and fans quickly rebelled on the angle, making the match a lame duck. Kane would unmask shortly after losing the match, but this feud overall stands as one fans simply couldn't look past, it was that horrendous. What other big feuds with WWE and World Champions do you recall during which wrestlers have suffered by being programmed with Kane? Do you agree with the choices on this list?
