5 Ups & 0 Downs From AEW Rampage (Dec 8 - Results & Review)

3. This Did Work

Don Callis Family Konosuke Takeshita Powerhouse Hobbs
AEW

Don Callis was on top form doing guest commentary during Powerhouse Hobbs and Konosuke Takeshita vs. Christopher Daniels and Matt Sydal. His clear disrespect for the veteran duo shone through, but Callis carefully put his men over first and foremost. The way he talked about their feud with The Golden Jets and generally acted like a menace was awesome.

The match itself was a hoot too.

Hobbs and Takeshita vs. Daniels and Sydal won't win tag bout of the year, but it existed to tell a story and that's absolutely fine. It was way more effective than some 90-second squash on two local workers would've been for the Don Callis Family too. The most important thing here is that Don had time to get everyone over.

So, there you go - the whole segment was simple and enjoyable. It's honestly the kind of character-focused stuff Rampage should be used for every week. That's surely what the show is for. Friday nights are there to give AEW more breathing room to tell stories a busy Dynamite or Collision might've missed.
