5 Ups & 0 Downs From AEW Rampage (Dec 8 - Results & Review)

2. Matt Menard’s Stunning Commentary

Daddy Magic Matt Menard
AEW

Tony Khan has tried out a few wrestlers as announcers on Rampage. Chris Jericho has done it to death, Ricky Starks was a fixture behind the booth for a while, and Paul Wight has done well when called upon. Now, Matt Menard just came along and slapped all of them handsome before getting Tony Schiavone to call him "Daddy...Magic".

Menard was really, really good on Friday night. Not many active wrestlers understand how to pace themselves for an entire show without dropping energy or forgetting they're behind the desk to get others over, but Matt's a natural. This might've been one of the best wrestler-turned-announcer performances yours truly has ever heard.

The dude had a splash of Pat McAfee's caffeine-soaked hype, but tempered things at the right moments to mix it up. Seriously, he, Ian Riccaboni and Schiavone should become the permanent trio on Rampage. They were that good together.

Matt Menard, you have a future at doing this stuff sir.
