5 Ups & 1 Down From WWE Saturday Night's Main Event (24 January - Results & Review)

DOWNS…

1. Dragging The Show Down

When WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event returned to television, it featured a talking head segment between Joe Tessitore and Jesse “The Body” Ventura, who was one of the original commentators on the first iteration of the iconic program.

The segment seemed like an ideal way to lean into the retro vibe of the program by having Ventura take part in the show. Fast-forward to late 2025, and The Body was no longer part of SNME, with Stephanie McMahon taking his place and instantly rendering the entire point of the talking head segment moot.

Then, on this weekend’s edition, Stephanie opened the show and announced that Joe Tess had been stuck in Detroit and was unable to make it to Montreal, leaving her to carry on the banter from the Okerlund Position solo. And it was brutal.

McMahon added nothing, and her spots – despite being incredibly brief – served only to drag the program down.
