5 Ups & 10 Downs From WWE Raw (Nov 15)
4. Rey Gets Clowned
Let’s lay this out there upfront: Adam Pearce is not Vince McMahon, and Rey Mysterio is not “Stone Cold” Steve Austin.
So before anyone tries to defend the foolishness surrounding the Raw men’s Survivor Series team, let’s just cancel any comparisons like that to try to make sense of replacing 40% of the team less than 10 days after announcing the members. If they’re trying to get Pearce over as a heel GM character, there are other, better ways to do it than make Dominik and Rey Mysterio look like goobers.
Rey watched his son get bounced last week, then got beat up and tossed this week. The only positive to this is that Austin Theory will get a spotlight, but he did nothing to get there, so it really isn’t the kind of shine that matters.
There were better ways to do this – a backstage argument simply leads to Pearce being offended and removing both Mysterios, abusing his power – but then you wouldn’t have the impromptu matches to clown both luchadores.
