OK, this is your writer officially tapping out on this new Edge character.

Just, no.

The over-acting is so bad right now that it’s quickly become something that would automatically be skipped if it wasn’t necessary to watch it for a review. Edge’s entire getup – the look, the music, the promos – smack of an ageing hipster trying desperately to hang on.

Instead of being that celebrated rock band that performs its hits and mixes in some new tunes as well, Edge is trying to ignore his chart-toppers and make the audience listen to his new concept album of 12-minute opuses that require a thesaurus to understand.

When AJ Styles acting confused is the most relatable part of a feud, that’s when you know you’ve failed.
