5 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Rampage (April 15)

1. Dumb Cowboy Sh*t

Hangman Page Adam Cole
AEW

What was this spot all about? Hangman Page used his belt to tie Adam Cole up on the top rope, then grabbed a barbed wire chair from underneath the ring. The AEW Champ hesitated before hitting Cole though. Why?! He'd put the SuperKliq man through hell anyway, and this was a 'Texas Death Match'.

There shouldn't be any quarter given by the champion when his title is on the line. This was typical stupid babyface nonsense; it was the kind of moment booked for the sake of it rather than because it fit the match. Sure, they were trying to portray Page as someone with a moral compass, but come on.

TEXAS F*CKING DEATH MATCH.

Weirdly, the commentators echoed this wishy-washy stuff by saying that Hangman wasn't willing to "sink to those depths". Erm...he'd already thrown Cole halfway across the ring from the top turnbuckle onto a pile of chairs, and wrapped barbed wire around Adam's head before hitting a Deadeye off the apron through a table seconds later.
