5 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Rampage (April 15)
Ups...
5. Building Up The Butcher
It was pretty difficult to hear ring announcer Justin Roberts name Barrett Brown before the enhancement worker hit a missile dropkick on The Butcher. This wasn't so much a full-blown match as a set up angle to give Butcher some heat before he faces Wardlow on Dynamite though.
Mr. Brown's big moment wasn't the focus.
The entire exercise lasted a grand total of 53 seconds, but that's not a negative. Put it this way: AEW sprinting through a jobber match is preferable to padding things out like they did with Serena Deeb's woeful five-minute challenges a while back. This was exactly what it needed to be.
Now, Butcher looks like a killer before going in there against another big man, and Shawn Spears put across on commentary that MJF had hired him for the gig. These little set up moments are always something that All Elite does very, very well.
