5 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Rampage (Aug 20)

1. A Lacklustre Main Event

Jon Moxley Daniel Garcia
AEW

Daniel Garcia and his 2point0 buddies ambushed Jon Moxley on Dynamite to set up this Rampage headliner. Sadly for all involved, even the hot angle and fiery pre-match exchange (handled by Mark Henry) couldn't convince anyone watching that this was a deserving main event.

Indeed, it wasn't as grand as the spot likely deserved.

2point0 didn't come across as important or really all-that-threatening, which was another missed opportunity. Plus, the post-match beating was very house show. Eddie Kingston, Sting and Darby Allin joined Mox in cleaning house and sending the heels scampering to safety. One was almost expecting a Hulk Hogan-esque pose routine afterwards.

On the plus side, Garcia tried to out-wrestle the obviously-more-dangerous Mox. Then, Jon schooled the newcomer by tapping him out. That aside though, this was barely there and didn't really close the show the required bang.
