Well, well, well. How about that continuity?

Matt Sydal was p*ssed at Bryan Danielson for previously suggesting that he'd like to recruit Lee Moriarty and pave the way for young stars like him to become AEW's future. Backstage, Sydal and Moriarty got in Bry's face too. That led to them setting up Danielson vs. Moriarty for next week.

Let's be real here: Moriarty isn't a big threat to Bryan in 2022, but the veteran will make sure Lee looks great before tapping him. That's important, and it's sweet that Moriarty got to show some balls in a backstage face-to-face with one of the promotion's leading lights.

Even Sydal looked proud to see Moriarty go nose-to-nose with Danielson. This was such a simple segment, but it did genuinely do a lot for Lee's prospects in AEW and furthered Bryan's flirtation with those heel-ish vibes that have been working for him.

Bring on next week.
