5 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Rampage (Sep 17)

Downs...

2. Slightly Rough One

Anna Jay The Bunny
AEW

This could seem rather harsh.

Anna Jay vs. The Bunny wasn't an awful wrestling match. In fact, the psychology of Bunny working on Anna's previously-injured shoulder was sound, and the right woman won, but the bout also played before silence from the crowd. Plus, well, it just never really felt like it got going before the finish.

Speaking of the finish, it...was a roll-up. Hey, if fans are gonna criticise WWE for using those willy-nilly, then they better not duck out of slinging sh*te at AEW too. "Surprise" roll-ups are one of the most overused tropes in all of wrestling, not just under Vince McMahon's watch.

Do workers like Jay and Bunny need more reps this length to improve? Absolutely. Is Rampage the correct place for that to happen? Sure, and so is Dark. Does that mean anyone should ignore a rough-around-the-edges match when they see one? Nope.

Again, apologies if that sounds a little rude, but it is what it is.
