5 Ups & 2 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Dec 25)

What an opener that caged effort was.

Roman Reigns and Kevin Owens have excellent chemistry, which they proved at TLC (and years before that at Royal Rumble 2017). They combined to great effect again on the Christmassy SmackDown - this was one of the best TV showings of the entire year, and it had the right finish.

Nobody should get salty about Jey Uso's interference, because it fit the story WWE are telling: Reigns sees himself as some peerless higher-up, but he actually sorta' relies on his cousin's help more than he'd like to admit. Meanwhile, KO sees through that but is powerless to stop it from happening 'cause he's flying solo.

It's good stuff, and this latest drama once again let Uso display his value to Roman's crusade. Bonus points must go to Owens for the way he sold that handcuffed ending too. He looked believably distraught that Jey and Reigns had pulled one over him again.
