5 Ups & 3 Downs From AEW Dark (Nov 8)

Downs...

3. A Slapdash Affair

The week's second edition of AEW Dark was so unexpected that it seemed to catch even the company themselves by surprise. There was absolutely no suggestion of its existence until literally five minutes prior to the show airing, when AEW's official Twitter account dropped the news.

Now, there's nothing inherently wrong with a bonus episode - a surprise such as this is the perfect entré building up appetite for Full Gear - but it may have been more effective with a little more forethought. The show generally felt like a hurried production, featuring a lengthy Control Center piece updated from earlier this week, and cutting to black almost as soon as the main event was over. If it serves the purpose of building up PPV interest, then no harm done - but it did come over a tad amateurish.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
