5 Ups & 3 Downs From AEW Rampage: Fyter Fest Week One (July 15)

3. Make The First Move!

Sting Malakai Black
AEW

Welcome to AEW: Staring Contest. It's a simple premise, granted, albeit one that works well when the star power is there. Rampage featured quite the staredown between Malakai Black and Sting, and it's something they can link back to at a later date.

They must.

Black and the Stinger teased throwing hands before going their separate ways down individual entrance/exit tunnels. There was a rippling sense of anticipation from the audience about seeing these fellas lock horns, which is exactly what both must've been shooting for.

Side note: Darby Allin was like freakin' Batman as he leapt from the shadows onto Brody King. Good job from JR on comms to point out that Darby going after a big man like King "is a testament to his guts". Everything about this segment, including Black eyeballing Sting, clicked.
