5 Ups & 3 Downs From AEW Rampage (July 29)

2. Anna Jay’s Best Match?

Anna Jay
AEW

Anna Jay just went from doing sod all to one of the most watchable stars in AEW's women's division, and she did in one match. Ruby Soho has to take some of the credit for that too - she carried a fair bit of this Rampage main event, but Jay was on top form.

This was arguably her finest showing to date.

Remember the promise Anna showed alongside Tay Conti when the pair were battling Penelope Ford and The Bunny last year? Well, that can be considered the early knockings of this match vs. Ruby. Jay showed a darker side throughout, and seemed to be relishing the chance to actually experience some character development.

Imagine that.

Perhaps the best thing about all of this is that there's no pressure on Anna to develop quickly. AEW's top female champs are established, so Jay can focus on having good match after good match on TV so she builds some momentum.
