5 Ups & 3 Downs From Impact Wrestling Bound For Glory 2018
1. A Pointless Debut
Eli Drake's open challenges have been dismal, doing nothing whatsoever to help his character development. Put it this way - he was the World Champion just a few months ago. He deserves better than this.
Answering the call in New York was a debuting James Ellsworth. Remember him? The guy with no chin? The guy that holds several victories over current WWE Champion AJ Styles? Yeah, him. Impact are a few months late on bringing him in as most fans are past the stage of caring about Ellsworth. They let him know it too, chanting some very un-PG language at him.
It didn't do anything to help Drake in the slightest, except for leading in to the following segment. Unless this open challenge schtick is heading to something bigger and better, then what's the point? As soon as he lost the World Championship, it wasn't as if he remained in the main event scene for long after that. He was out of there within a few weeks.
At least it all ended with a victory, right? No-one needs to speak about the fact he was decimated by Abyss afterwards. It was already a terrible evening for Drake...
