5 Ups & 3 Downs From This Week's Impact Wrestling (Apr 19)

3. Making It Personal

The intensity to the Tessa Blanchard vs. Gail Kim match at Homecoming was turned up several notches this week as Tessa invaded the restaurant where Robert Irvine works. Robert is of course Gail's real-life husband.

Although he wasn't there, the former Knockouts Champion took out her frustrations on the other members of staff. She dropped some clean utensils on the floor, poured food over the manager's head, smashed some plates, the usual things associated with causing a ruckus in a kitchen. Someone was having none of it, and threatened Tessa with a knife at one stage. If that doesn't make it personal, then what will?

On paper, it may come across as just any old angle to further a storyline. The way it played out though was exceptionally well done - most things in the rivalry thus far have been. After last week's rather meaningless segment with a steel chair being pulled out of Tessa's hands, this is exactly the sort of thing that was needed to remind everyone why this is one of the more personal affairs on the Homecoming card.
