5 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE Money In The Bank 2024

2. A Sloppy Night For Priest

Whether you’re talking about storyline or in-ring performance, Saturday was not the best night for Damian Priest, which seems odd considering he left Money in the Bank with his World Heavyweight Championship.

But Priest had a sometimes sloppy match against Seth Rollins, with both men looking like they were struggling to hit several of their moves – and not in the worked manner. Kicks didn’t connect, and transitions between moves were clunky at times.

Undoubtedly, the toughest moment came at the apex of the match, when Rollins connected with a Falcon Arrow for a loooong two count… only Priest didn’t actually kick out, which forced the referee to awkwardly stop counting and insist a shoulder came up off the mat. The kickout was essential since Priest was retaining his title, and CM Punk’s interference was contingent on the title match being a triple threat (so there would be no disqualification). It was a really bad moment.

In storyline, this match was another tainted victory for Priest, who has been struggling for legitimacy since winning the title by cashing in at WrestleMania 40. While that was something that was planned, it didn’t help to just pile it on after the disappointing performance.
