5 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE Money In The Bank 2024

1. Punk Brings The Chaos

For CM Punk, disrupting the status quo of a wrestling company is almost as automatic as breathing. Saturday night was no different.

Punk interjected himself into the World Heavyweight Championship triple threat between Seth Rollins, Damian Priest, and Drew McIntyre almost immediately after Drew cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase, battering McIntyre with a steel chair and rendering him an easy target for Priest, who retained his title.

In doing so, Punk once again made himself the center of controversy, disrupting a World Title match, costing Drew his MITB cash-in, and, due to the match stipulation, ensuring that Rollins can’t challenge for the title as long as Priest holds it. That enraged Seth, who had to be held back from approaching a proud-of-himself Punk. It also had to frustrate Priest, who wanted to prove himself by winning the title match on his own.

Just like that, a man who has wrestled one match since returning to WWE more than seven months ago is at the center of the Raw main event scene and managed to piss off three different wrestlers. That’s a pretty impressive feat for one run-in.
