5 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE Raw (11 November - Results & Review)

3. Priest Ramps Up

WWE Raw Ludwig Kaiser Damian Priest

Despite his hiccup during the opening segment, Damian Priest did have a good night overall.

Priest’s confrontation with Gunther was about more than his framing of the Ring General’s reign. It was just as much about the challenger exuding confidence and making himself sound like he has a legitimate shot at defeating the champion at Survivor Series.

During his promo, Priest sounded like a challenger who believes he can defeat Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship. And then he went out and defeated the Ring General’s right-hand man, Ludwig Kaiser, in convincing fashion. Say what you will about his chances, but Priest talking the talk and then walking the walk is a simple, yet effective way to build up a challenger.

Gunther acting like he’s unsure of himself suddenly is a bit silly, but it’s hard to deny that Priest did well for himself on Monday night – even with the attempted retcon. Their first match at SummerSlam outperformed expectations, so the rematch should reveal whether that was a one-night success story or an indicator that the two big men have really good chemistry.
