5. 'Melo Don’t Miz' Becomes A Thing

The Miz Carmelo Hayes

OK, so it looks like Carmelo Hayes and The Miz will become a tag-team after all. Personally, zero issues with that, because Melo needed something to do and was struggling on his own anyway. The cheesy wordplay works, and both men had some decent chemistry as a team vs. R-Truth and LA Knight on Friday night. This was a two for one storytelling push too.

Shinsuke Nakamura got involved to cost Knight before they tangle over the United States Title once more. Again, nobody should be offended by that. Truth took the fall (as he should), LA had an out (necessary considering he was the biggest star in the match), and a brand new ego-driven tag-team unit shared smiles after getting their first win together.

No, this wasn't the kind of match anyone needs to go out of their way to see, but it was functional whilst pushing two separate stories forwards. Sometimes, that's perfectly fine for TV. Not every single match needs to be a five star classic. It's more important to tell tales and fit into the framework of the broadcast overall. Truth and Knight vs. Melo Don't Miz did exactly that.

It was way better than Tiffany Stratton vs. Candice LeRae, which should've strived for similar. Truth is handy to have around on Fridays for situations precisely like this one, and there could be something in Melo Don't Miz if WWE plays their cards right. Fingers and toes crossed this is a turning point for Hayes on the main roster.

Miz playing his goofy, totally uncool partner works.
