5 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Apr 24)
2. Vince McMahon's Ribbing
Vincent Kennedy McMahon also came out to add his own grandad humour to Triple H's 25th Anniversary celebrations. Vince, who isn't the internet's favourite person right now (when is he ever?), told his son-in-law that he wishes the bash could've taken place in front of fans.
Then, Vince said one family would cheer Hunter and everyone else would chant, "Boring". Ooft.
McMahon is at his best when he's a tyrannical wisecracker who thinks he's the most entertaining guy in the room. Some may think his heelish behaviour was a little out of place here, but it was played for giggles and probs the kind of banter Vince and Triple H have behind the scenes anyway. There was nothing malicious about it.
As much as it's true McMahon (and even Shawn Michaels) were poor replacements for actual storyline development elsewhere, they at least served a purpose. Both know Triple H better than most, and they belonged at any party thrown for him.
