5 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Dec 17)

1. Brock Lesnar To The Rescue!

Most WWE TV shows inch stories forward. That's fine - creative has to worry about 52 episodes of each brand per year, after all, and it's unrealistic to expect monumental plot developments every single time. That's why this week's SmackDown was so damn special.

Roman Reigns dumped Paul Heyman as his 'Special Council' and then went to end him for good with some steel chairs. Suddenly, Brock Lesnar marched out to paste The Usos, hit Reigns with some F5s and effectively save Paul E's bacon.

This was a huge, landscape-shifting moment.

It completely alters the dynamic of Reigns vs. Lesnar heading into Day 1 on 1 January; Heyman could be back beside Brock, and Roman won't have a skilled manipulator to fight verbal battles for him with WWE management. What a thumping end to the night this was.
