5 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE SmackDown (March 20)

1. The Intensity Between Reigns & Goldberg

Some fans probably yelled, 'Aw man, not another contract signing' before SmackDown.

These segments are so formulaic it's unreal, and they either end with a staredown or someone getting put through the table. This time, WWE plumped for the former, and they were right to do so. You can't give away much physicality with Goldberg before his actual matches anyway. He's limited in-ring, and it's best to keep what he does have for pay-per-view.

This face-to-face was good stuff, and it was exactly what it needed to be. Admittedly, Goldberg's comeback on Roman's "little bitch bulldog sitting in my yard" line wasn't as good as it could've been, but no matter. Big Bill will just have to rip Reigns' torso in two with a Spear as payback.

That intensity both exuded was the ideal way to build towards their Universal Title bout. Now, all going well, WWE will follow the template of Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar from 'Mania 33, keep the match to five-six minutes, let them run through their greatest hits and then move on.
